Where have I been? Well, let's just say "SUMMER HAPPENED!" Anyone who knows what 4-H is knows that 4-H folks don't "get the summer off" like school teachers! I'm almost to the end of summer and am finally back in my scrapbook room for the first time in weeks! It's good to be home!
I thought I better start restocking my card box so I started with a birthday card that I scraplifted from Pinterest! Here's the design I used for inspiration and it was pinned by Misty Rushlow http://mistyrushlow.blogspot.com/ .
The paper line I used is actually a Christmas one called Jolly Holiday by Recollections. I used this paper previously to make Christmas Cards for a class I taught for Oklahoma Home & Community Education Club Holiday Extravaganza! I love that non-traditional colors are incorporated in with the traditional Christmas colors!
The first step was covering the front of the white card with purple print paper cut 4 X 5 1/2 inches. I stamped the sentiment, "It's Your Birthday" in white ink in the lower right corner. On the inside of the card the sentiment, "...enjoy!" is stamped in purple. I also used the purple ink to stamp the back of the card with "handmade with love!"
Next, I layered a red plaid print paper cut 4 X 4 inches and added a light blue print paper cut 3 3/4 X 3 3/4 inches. I used decorative scissors to trim two sides.
I cut squares with the "George and Basic Shapes" Cricut Cartridge from 4 different papers to form the dimensional petals. The bottom layer of petals are 1 1/2 inch squares with the opposite corners cut with a corner rounder punch. The top layer of petals are 1 1/4 inch squares with the opposite corners cut with a corner rounder punch. I then inked the petals with white ink and popped the top petal with a piece of pop dot.
The flower in the center was cut with the "George and Basic Shapes" Cricut Cartridge as well. Size of the pink flower is 1 1/2 inches and the blue is 1 inch. I used a pink brad to connect the flower pieces and adhered the flower in the center with a piece of pop dot.
